At our district psychiatry centers we want to strengthen our professional environment with attending speicialist physicians. We want talented and dedicated psychiatrists in our DPS.

The district psychiatric center (DPS) is part of the specialist healthcare service within mental healthcare at Sykehuset Østfold, which provides specialist healthcare services to the inhabitants of the county of Østfold and the municipality of Vestby – approx. 300,000 inhabitants. DPS is a professional independent unit responsible for the general mental healthcare. DPS provide various types of services, such as day service, inpatient ward, outpatient and emergency services.

Our DPS are located in Fredrikstad, Moss, Askim, Halden and Sarpsborg. DPS consists of general outpatient clinics, inpatient units and emergency teams, and is responsible for the specialist healthcare services in Halden prison and Ravneberget prison. DPS also has ACT and FACT teams cooperating with the
municipalities, and local emergency teams during day time.

At DPS we work interdisciplinary and collaborate across the sections with attending specialists physicians, doctors in specialization, psychologists, psycho-motor physiotherapist, clinical nutrition physiologist, nurses, social workers, healthcare professionals and healthcare secretaries. Environmental therapy is an important part of the treatment in the inpatient units. The outpatient clinics offer both individual and group treatment, and have differentiated treatment options for the different patient groups. There is an environment for group treatment both in the outpatient clinics and in the inpatient units. The outpatient
clinics also have expertise in different forms of treatment, and there is a professional environment to further develop differentiated treatment options for the different patient groups. We have joint medical meetings and treatment meetings with focus on various professional topics in DPS. We are now strengthening our treatment group with attending specialist physicians, and there are currently vacancies at both the outpatient clinic and the inpatient units.

It is possible to participate in evening and weekend duty.
