Marine Plumber
Reports to – Plumbing Foreman
Job Purpose
Assemble, install or repair pipes, fittings or fixtures of heating, water or drainage systems, according to specifications or plumbing code.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist in installing and maintaining plumbing systems including assembling pipe sections, tubing or fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolt cement, plastic, solvent, caulking or soldering, brazing or welding equipment;
• Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures and equipment;
• Assemble and install valves and fittings;
• Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle;
• Observe pressure gauges to identify leaks;
• Test pipe systems by filing pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks and fix leaks;
• Piping marine sanitation systems, raw water systems, fuel systems, fresh water systems
• Install thru-hull fitting and sea connections;
• Rebuild and repair valves and sea connections;
• Collaborate with other A.F. Theriault & Son Ltd. personnel as required;
• Participate in continuous improvements efforts; and
• Follow A.F. Theriault & Son Ltd. policies and procedures
Requirements
• Red Seal Journeyperson Plumbing Certificate (Preferred);
• Have proven experience in marine plumbing: 3 years (Preferred);
• Willing to hire Apprentices with the right skill set;
• Demonstrate knowledge in maintenance repair & installation of all types of plumbing systems & equipment;
• Able to seamlessly shift gears between tasks in a busy environment;
• Be conscientious about their work;
• Previous plumbing experience, particularly in a marine application would be considered an asset;
• Capable of working overtime and weekends as required to complete projects; and
• Be responsible, trustworthy, confident, driven, efficient and cooperative.
